Position: Direct Care Worker
Reports to: Program Supervisor
Qualifications: Must show evidence of the ability to work constructively with individuals with developmental disabilities. Staff must demonstrate basic respect and good will toward residents and co-workers. Staff must be fully ambulatory in order to gain access to clients’ homes. Valid driver’s license is required.
Basic Function: To possess and practice a commitment to provide a home environment to the individuals residing in the home. The direct care staff will work directly with the residents both individually and in groups to help meet their various social, physical and psychological needs.
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to clients on a daily basis.
- Maintain adequate personal hygiene of residents by assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding, toileting and positioning as required by ISP.
- Report evidence of abuse or neglect immediately to the supervisor. Utilize the agency on-call system after hours.
- Promptly report to the Supervisor any suspected need of medical attention.
- Provide transportation of clients for ISP and other delegated activities as assigned.
- Administer and document medications and health related tasks following all IH policies and procedures if certified to do so.
- Work with the professional staff to evaluate assigned clients’ present abilities, progress and potential.
- Participate in the development and follow through of assigned clients’ individual service plans.
